The Inn at the End of the Trail which I think means the end of the Camino Real (the Royal Road) which goes from Mexico City to Santa Fe.

La Fonda is the Inn at the End of the Santa Fe Trail -- the commercial route developed in the 1800s between Missouri and Santa Fe. There was an inn -- or la fonda (in Spanish) at the end of the trail where the current hotel is located on the southwest corner of the Plaza. The hotel has a history brochure available by request or if you drop in to the lobby you can pick up one at the front desk.
